 Mission & Service Outreach

This year we have added some programs and outreach opportunities to FPC Newark. We are excited to see how we can use these to reach our community both far and near. If you would like to know more about any of our programs or to see how you can join us, please contact us at office@newarkpres.org.

CITYTEAM – OAKLAND

What is Cityteam?

Cityteam is a nondenominational Christian nonprofit compassionately serving the poor, the homeless, and the lost in San Jose, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, and around the world.

What Does FPC Newark do with Cityteam?
We cook a warm meal for Cityteam Oakland’s dining hall which provides hot meals to people in need. One in six people in the United States struggles with hunger, and Cityteam is passionate about meeting this very real need in the community.

How Can you help?
Elaine leads the Cityteam Ministry and is a great leader for this team. If you would like more information or to help with any dates for 2020 please email Elaine at elainegszeto@gmail.comWe need volunteers once a month to help cook and service the meals.

Cooks

4 to 6 cooks are needed, and sometimes we will need a cook lead. A cook lead just needs to supervisor the kitchen crew.

The hours for service for the volunteer cooks is 1:30pm to 4:00pm.

Servers

5 to 7 servers needed, also there will be times when a server lead is going to be needed. Server lead just makes sure everything is gathered together before they leave the church then helps in Oakland to ensure things run smoothly.

Servers should wear comfortable clothing and shoes as they will be on their feet a lot. We usually all go up in 2 cars so drivers will also be needed.

The hours for servers is 4:15pm to 8:00pm
