Garrett Yamada
Pastor

Garrett and Stephanie Yamada have been married for over 25 years and have three children. He and Stephanie met while they were both students at UC Davis. (Garrett earned a B.S. in Agricultural Education and two teaching credentials at the University of California, Davis). Stephanie has served in the past as a Behavior Therapist for Los Altos School District and working with children with special needs. Brent is their oldest child, and has made tremendous strides in his battle with autism. He has taken college classes and is now being trained for future employment. Kimi is at San Diego State University and is pursuing a degree in Business Management. Sara is a senior at San Mateo High School. The Yamadas plan is to continue to live in the San Mateo area until Sara can finish High School. After that they will move to a location closer to the church.

Garrett has been an ordained pastor for over 25 years. He received a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He also attended Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey for a year. Most recently he served as Pastor at Sturge Presbyterian Church in San Mateo. Previous to that he served at the following churches: Pleasanton Presbyterian Church, Pleasanton, CA; Geneva Presbyterian Church, Laguna Hills, CA; First Presbyterian Church, Berkeley, CA; Union Church of Manila in the Philippines; and Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverside, CA.

Garrett also enjoys the ocean, fishing, photography, a little golf, food and the outdoors. When he lived in San Diego (his hometown) he used to scuba dive and spend more time at the beach. He is also a fan of the San Diego Chargers and the Padres.
